Description/Blazon
A Gold color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Argent, a leaping stylized bobcat Proper, on a chief Gules three lightning flashes conjoined tip to tip to form an equilateral triangle Or. Attached below a bipartite teal blue motto scroll inscribed "WARRIORS FIRST EXPERT ALWAYS!" in Gold letters.

The springing bobcat refers to the fierce professionalism of Special Troops, their speed and formidable skills in the field. The three lightning flashes symbolize conduct of combat operations in support of mobile, combined arms offensive and defensive operations and worldwide security operations; also capability to deploy to any contingency area by air, sea or land.

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 2 November 2004.
